About this activity

Once the wood-fired sauna is warm, it's time to relax and enjoy an authentic Finnish tradition. Listen to the crackling fire, feel the heat rising from the stones, and unwind beside a peaceful Arctic lake.

When you're ready, step outside and experience the refreshing contrast of the cold. Take a dip in the lake, try ice swimming through our specially maintained ice hole in winter, or cool off in the snow when conditions allow. Our guide will explain how to enjoy the experience safely, and you can take everything at your own pace. Cold-water swimming is optional.

After cooling down, return to the warmth of the sauna and repeat the experience as often as you like. This traditional combination of heat, fresh Arctic air, and cold water is a wonderful way to experience Finnish culture away from the busy tourist areas around Rovaniemi.

Itinerary

Experience an authentic Finnish sauna near Rovaniemi with a relaxing visit to a traditional wood-fired sauna by a peaceful Arctic lake. After a comfortable transfer from the city, enjoy 1.5 to 2 hours of sauna time, warm up on the benches, and learn about Finland's beloved sauna tradition from your English-speaking guide. During winter, you can take a refreshing dip in a specially maintained ice hole or cool off in the snow when conditions allow. In warmer months, enjoy a swim in the lake. Cold-water swimming is optional, so you can enjoy the sauna at your own pace. This shared group experience welcomes up to 15 participants and takes place away from busy tourist areas. Towels, slippers, drinking water, hot tea, and round-trip transfers from selected pick-up points in Rovaniemi are included. The complete experience takes approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. For evening visits during the darker months, you may also have a chance to see the Northern Lights, weather permitting. Please bring your swimsuit and suitable outdoor clothing.
