TIME: 5 minutes | RIDE-THROUGH / TOUR INTRODUCTION
Our experience begins on legendary 125th Street—the commercial and cultural heartbeat of Harlem.
As we ride, guests will be introduced to Harlem’s history, its transformation into a center of Black culture, and the importance of 125th Street as a gathering place for business, entertainment, activism, art, and community life.
We’ll slow down and briefly stop outside one of the most recognizable landmarks in Harlem—the Apollo Theater.
Guests will hear about the Apollo’s legendary Amateur Night and its role in launching and showcasing generations of Black entertainers.
This is one of our signature photo moments.
-
Strivers' Row
Passing by
TIME: 6 minutes | SLOW RIDE + BRIEF PHOTO PAUSE
Now we enter one of Harlem’s most beautiful residential areas.
Strivers’ Row became associated with successful Black professionals and remains one of Harlem’s architectural treasures.
Guests will see its distinctive historic row houses while hearing about the doctors, lawyers, musicians, professionals, and community leaders who helped make this area famous.
-
Abyssinian Baptist Church
Passing by
TIME: 4 minutes | BRIEF STOP / EXTERIOR VIEW
We’ll pause outside historic Abyssinian Baptist Church, founded in 1808 and one of the most influential Black churches in America.
Guests will learn about the powerful relationship between faith, civic leadership, social justice, and community development in Harlem.
We’ll also connect the church back to Adam Clayton Powell Sr. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr.
-
Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
Passing by
TIME: 5 minutes | BRIEF STOP / PHOTO OPPORTUNITY
At the Schomburg Center, guests will encounter one of the world’s leading institutions dedicated to preserving and celebrating the history and cultures of people of African descent.
We’ll introduce Arturo Alfonso Schomburg and explain how his passion for collecting Black history helped create an institution whose collections now preserve stories from across the African diaspora.
-
Passing by
TIME: 4 minutes | SLOW PASS-BY / EXTERIOR VIEW
As we pass Harlem Hospital, guests will learn about the extraordinary murals created by Black artists during the 1930s as part of a federal arts program.
These works helped place Black life, history, culture, and identity into a major public institution at a time when Black artists faced significant barriers to recognition.
-
Harriet Tubman Memorial
Passing by
Suggested experience: 3–4 minutes | Slow pass-by + photo opportunity
Meet one of Harlem’s most powerful public monuments: “Swing Low,” the Harriet Tubman Memorial. Located at the crossroads of Harlem, the monument honors Harriet Tubman and the freedom she helped countless people pursue.
But look closely—the sculpture tells a story. Tubman appears to be moving forward, with roots trailing behind her that symbolize the people and lives connected to her journey. This is a perfect moment to talk about courage, freedom, sacrifice, and the generations who continued that fight.

Stop 7
Passing by
Suggested experience: 3 minutes | Slow pass-by
Welcome to Sylvia’s, a Harlem institution since 1962.
Sylvia Woods started with a small restaurant on Lenox Avenue that grew into one of the most famous soul-food destinations in the world. Fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, ribs—Sylvia’s helped put Harlem's soul-food tradition on the international map.
But Sylvia’s is about more than food. It became a gathering place where Harlem residents could sit alongside entertainers, community leaders, politicians, and visitors from around the world. Its guest list over the years has included everyone from Aretha Franklin and Patti LaBelle to Beyoncé and U.S. presidents.
Now we're seeing another side of Harlem—Harlem today.
Red Rooster Harlem, created by chef Marcus Samuelsson and his partners, combines food, music, art, and community right here on Lenox Avenue. The restaurant celebrates Harlem’s culinary traditions while regularly featuring live music and local artists.
-
The National Jazz Museum in Harlem
Passing by
Suggested experience: 3–4 minutes | Slow pass-by
You can't tell Harlem's story without talking about JAZZ.
The National Jazz Museum in Harlem celebrates and preserves one of America's greatest art forms and Harlem's enormous role in its development.
This is where the tour should become an experience instead of another history lesson.
-
Marcus Garvey Memorial Park
Passing by
Suggested experience: 3–4 minutes | Scenic drive-by
Welcome to one of Harlem's great gathering spaces.
Originally known as Mount Morris Park, this historic park has served Harlem for generations. Today you'll find recreation, community programming, performances and an amphitheater—and the park is surrounded by some spectacular Harlem architecture.
The park was renamed in 1973 for Marcus Garvey, the influential Jamaican-born Black nationalist and Pan-African leader.
This stop gives us an opportunity to talk about something important: Harlem isn't just where history happened. It's a neighborhood where people live, raise families, play, worship, organize and create culture today.
