Butrint

Enjoy a unique view of the ancient city of Butrint from across the lake. Your local guide will explain the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, from its Greek and Roman origins to its Byzantine and Venetian periods. Learn about its strategic location, ancient legends, and the role it played throughout history while taking in one of the best panoramic views of the archaeological park.

> Discover the traditional mussel farms of Butrint Lake, where thousands of mussels grow naturally in the lake's clean, nutrient-rich waters. Your guide will explain the cultivation process, why the lake provides ideal conditions for mussel farming, and the important role this local industry plays in the region's culture and economy. Guests will also have the opportunity to take unique photos of the circular mussel farming structures.

Here we pause at the remains of an ancient Roman villa, once part of a wealthy lakeside settlement connected to the wider Butrint region. What you see today are the stone foundations and fragments that reveal how Romans designed their homes for both comfort and status, usually positioned with open views over the water for climate and control of trade routes.

This stop is a break point in a natural, quiet setting where we pause to rest and enjoy local Albanian hospitality right by the water. Restaurant Kalivoi is known for its simple, traditional atmosphere and fresh seafood caught locally from the lake and nearby waters.

30 min

Crystal River is fed by natural underground springs, which is why the water stays cold, clean, and constantly moving. This is also why the visibility is much higher compared to other parts of the lake.

We now return to Restaurant Kalivoi for the lunch break after the boat experience. This is a calm stop where you can relax by the water, sit comfortably, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere after the tour.

It’s a place to slow down, rest, and take in the natural surroundings before ending the journey. The setting is quiet and close to the lake, making it the perfect final pause of the experience.

After some free time here, guests can continue at their own pace and conclude the tour in a relaxed way.
