Hagia Irene Museum

Step inside the oldest church in Istanbul, standing in Topkapi Palace's First Courtyard. Built in the 4th century and rebuilt by Justinian after the Nika riots, Hagia Irene was never converted into a mosque, so its bare brick walls, vast dome and the rare iconoclastic mosaic cross above the apse survive as they were. Entry is included with your ticket and the acoustics inside are extraordinary.

Using your ticket

Your host is waiting 15 minutes before your selected entry time, in front of the Istanbul Archaeological Museums, holding a blue and white flag that reads museumticket.istanbul. Look for the flag - it is the easiest way to find us. Show your Viator ticket to the host, either on your phone screen or printed. The host hands you your Topkapi Palace entry ticket, which already includes the Harem and Hagia Irene, and points you straight to the security check.
