Tour details: Enter the Forbidden City through Wumen (Meridian Gate). Your journey will take you through the grand halls along the central axis.

Chinese citizens (including those from Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan) must book when online tickets for the Forbidden City are available. Once the online tickets are sold out, participation in this tour will not be possible. Furthermore, according to the regulations of the Palace Museum, Mainland Chinese citizens can only book tickets using their ID card number and Chinese name.

  1. The Nine Dragon Screen of The Palace Museum

    At the Forbidden City's Nine-Dragon Wall, travelers will see nine vivid dragons carved in glazed tiles. A certified guide explains hidden symbols, legendary repairs, and the wall's imperial secrets.

  2. Palace of Heavenly Purity

    15 min Admission included

    The emperor's sleeping hall with “Zheng Da Guang Ming” (Open and Impartial) plaque. Your guide will reveal how later emperors hid a secret will box above this plaque, changing succession rules forever.

  3. Hall of Middle Harmony (Zhonghe Dian)

    A square-shaped rest stop where emperors prepared before ceremonies. Look for the two sedan chairs and the bronze-domed ceiling – a rare early Qing blend of Chinese and Tibetan styles.

  4. Hall of Great Harmony (Taihe Dian)

    Your guide will explain: the highest surviving ancient wooden structure in China, the "Golden Throne" where emperors held grand ceremonies, the bronze incense burners and carved marble ramp with nine dragons.

  5. The Imperial Garden of The Palace Museum

    In the Imperial Garden, travelers see ancient cypresses, a rockery made of Taihu stones, the Hall of Imperial Peace (Daoist altar), and the unique "Longevity" rock. Your guide explains how emperors relaxed and sought immortality here.

  • After the guided tour ends, you can leave on your own and explore the Forbidden City by yourself until 5 PM.
