Itinerary

  1. Bannockburn War Memorial

    one hour Admission included

The Battle Bannockburn took place on the 23rd to 24th June 1314 and was a decisive victory for the Scots during the Wars of Independence with England.

The objective of the English army, led by King Edward II, was to relieve the English garrison holding Stirling Castle. It was not a battle that King Robert the Bruce of Scotland had wanted to fight as his campaign against the English invaders had been based on guerilla tactics. But the battle was brought about by his brother, Edward Bruce, who had negotiated with the English garrison that they would surrender if not relieved before the 24th June.

Join Gary in a personal tour of this fantastic period of Scottish history.

  2. National Wallace Monument

    45 min

The National Wallace Monument is a 220-foot (67-meter) Victorian Gothic tower completed in 1869, located on the Abbey Craig in Stirling, Scotland. It honors Sir William Wallace, overlooking the site of his 1297 victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. The monument features a 246-step spiral staircase, the famous 5ft 4in Wallace Sword, and panoramic views from its crown.

Entry into the monument depends on physical fitness due to the steps and close stairwell but will be added on request with tickets purchased on the day and included but if not the outside tour with shuttle bus is still a fantastic experience! add 1 hour if going inside

  3. Stirling Castle

    2 hours Admission included

Stirling is one of Scotland’s greatest stone castles – an icon integral to how we understand the nation’s story. The castle peaked in importance in the 1500s, but its volcanic crag has been fortified since ancient times.

Generations of Scottish monarchs have enlarged, adapted and embellished Stirling Castle. Explore its three main enclosures, and then admire the refurbished Royal Palace – childhood home of Mary Queen of Scots. The palace’s lavish design drew on European Renaissance fashions to show off James V’s power and good taste.

We have recreated the palace interiors as they may have looked when the Scottish king’s grand scheme was complete.

Join Gary on the walk around the gateway and key to the Highlands before the Argyll and Sutherland museum.

A free period after the museum is available to explore at your convenience.

  4. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental Museum

    2 hours Admission included

Join Gary an Argyll veteran of 13 years guide you through the family friendly Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum, The museum is a 5 star museum in the heart of Stirling Castle, which tells the fascinating story of the regiment through objects, images and sounds in a series of themed rooms. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise’s) have an extensive and fascinating history. Discover more about the regiment through the museum’s collections or listening to informative Winter Talks.

Gary is the only affiliated tour company with the Argyll museum and due to this can offer a bespoke experience of lunch in the castle officers mess a truly one of a kind offering that is available through the Argyll museum on request and for up to 8 people. You will have lunch with the panoramic views from the mess in an off limit part of the Kings building for a set donation to the Argyll museum. add an hour if having lunch

Whisky hadn't been produced in Stirling since 1852 when the original Stirling Distillery closed its doors. That has now changed with the start of production of our new-make spirit in early 2024.

Making just 20,000 litres year, we sit as Scotland's smallest whisky distillery (as far as we know!)

For us, the essential elements in creating a truly special whisky are simple; from using only the best water, yeast and malted barley to the care that goes into hand selecting the best quality casks to develop the rich flavours.

Immerse yourself in the world of whisky as experts lead you through exclusive tastings, unveiling the rich history and unique character of each dram. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or an eager enthusiast, this in-person event is the perfect opportunity to refine your palate and deepen your whisky knowledge.
