About this activity

We invite you to join us on a unique 9-day trek through remote villages in the stunning green Caucasus Mountains along Azerbaijan's northern border. Discover unique people, places, and ancient traditions in our beautiful country while staying at local guest houses along the way.

We will hike approximately 46 kilometers during these days, taking you up a stony trail toward the land of the Qriz people, one of the many ethnic groups in the Quba district, with roots in Caucasian Albania. Quba is home to 28 different ethnic groups living in isolated villages in this remote region.

From Quba, our route will lead us to the remote villages of Jek, Elik, Bostankesh, Khinaliq, Qalakhudat, and Qriz. The Qriz villages retain a sense of isolation and a simple agricultural way of life. The unique lifestyle of its people makes Khinalig, one of Azerbaijan's famous mountain villages, often compared to an open-air museum.

    BAKU – QUBA- VİLLAGE ELIK: Transfer to Elik Village (38km;1 hr), Altitude around 2000m . Overnight in the local House inside village of Elik. Dinner in local family.

Day 3 · ELIK MOUNTAIN VILLAGE (1700 m)– BOSTANKESH Village (1850 m) MOUNTAIN VILLAGE:

    Breakfast in the village of local family. After breakfast brief training (15 minutes) on safety on the route. Starting route to the east direction from Elik village to Bostankesh village (Distance 9 km, Altitude 1850 m). Continue road to Bostankesh village (1850 m, 4 km). On arrival accommodation in local house and dinner.

Day 4 · BOSTANKESH VİLLAGE (1900 m) – XİNALİQ VİLLAGE (2100 m)

    Breakfast in the local family. Road to Xinaliq (2100 m) distance 9 km will pass along a riverbed. Accommodation in local houses of Xinaliq village. Lunch and Dinner in local family.

Day 5 · XINALIG VILLAGE (2100 m) – QALAXUDAT MOUNTAIN VILLAGE (2250 m)

    Breakfast in the village of local family. Start road to Qalaxudat village (2250 m), is located, in the distance 10 km from Village Xinaliq. After walking 4 km we will ascend to 2400 m and descend to Qalaxudat village (2250 m). Total distance will be around 10 km. Overnight in local house of family and dinner.

Day 6 · QALAXUDAT MOUNTAIN VILLAGE (2250 m)- GRIZ MOUNTAIN VILLAGE (2000 m)

    Breakfast in the village of local family. Today we will continue our trek to village Griz located in distance 10 km from Qalaxudat village and altitude 2000 m. 5 km of road we will descend to 2300 m and then descend to 2000 m. we will visit Griz waterfall. On arrive to Griz village accommodation in local house and dinner.

    Breakfast in the village of local family. Continue trek to Susay mountain village approximate distance 10 km. The altitude that we will reach is 2600 meters. Arrive to Camping point on the mountain. Dinner and overnight in tent.
