4 Day Transylvania Adventure Motorcycle Tour (On / Off-Road)

About this activity

On this tour, we will explore the most spectacular parts of the Apuseni Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania.

The tour focuses on adventure riding, expect some off-road sections.

The tour offers two options:

1. a easy route on paved and light unpaved roads

2. a more challenging route focusing on off-road tracks.

Please note that the challenging route can be difficult if :

1. you lack prior off-road experience

2. ride a heavy motorcycle

3. do not have at least 50%-50% road-off-road tires.

We will agree in advance on which route to take, based on the groups skill level.

Recommended Motorcycles and gear:

  • Dual-sport or light to middleweight adventure motorcycles are required with atleast 50% offroad tires.
  • bring a spare tube if your motorcycle has no tubeless wheels
  • Big adventure bikes are also welcome if the rider is confident in their off-road skills.
  • If you don’t have a dual-sport or adventure motorcycle, we can arrange a rental. Please contact us separately for details.

Day 1 · Thursday afternoon | Cluj - Rimetea (paved road or offroad)

  1. Tureni

    one hour

    Ride and visit Tureni Gorges

  2. Cheile Turzii

    one hour

    Ride and visit Turda Gorges

  3. Rimetea

    one hour

    Ride to Rimetea village where our accomodation is located

  4. Coltesti Castle Ruins

    one hour

    Optionally ride and make a short hike (15 minutes) to a medieval castle

Local traditional dinner

Overnight stay at Botar pension.

Day 2 · Friday full day | Rimetea - Campeni (paved road and easy unpaved road or more challengine offroad)

  1. Muntele Mare

    2 hours

    Ride to the highes peak in the area on a easy unpaved road

  2. Stop 2

    2 hours

    Ride and make a short hike (15 minutes) to a peat bog ecosystem

  3. Geamana Flooded Village

    2 hours

    Ride to and arround the Geamana lake and visit the flooded willage on an easy unpaved road

  4. Rosia Montana

    2 hours

    Ride to the mining town Rosia Montana, that is part of a UNESCO world heritage site.

  5. Campeni

    30 min

    Ride to Campeni where our accomodation for the night is located.

Day 3 · Saturday full day | Campeni - Arieseni (paved and easy unpaved road or challenging offroad)

  1. Stop 1

    2 hours

    Ride to Cocesti village and to the nearby Gaina mountain peak on a easy unpaved road.

  2. Stop 2

    2 hours

    Ride to the Bihoru peak (Highest in the Apuseni mountains) on a esy unpaved road.

  3. Arieseni

    one hour

    Ride to Arieseni village where our accomodation is located

Day 4 · Sunday full day | Ride back to Cluj-Napoca (paved and easy unpaved road or challenging offroad)

  1. Apuseni Natural Park

    2 hours

    Ride in the heart of the Apuseni Mountains while visiting some of the most remote and isolated villages

  2. Cascada Valul Miresei

    2 hours

    Optional ride and short hike (30 minutes) to the Valul Miresei waterfall

  3. Belis-Fantanele

    one hour

    Ride and stop by the beautifull Belis Lake, where we will serve a snack

  4. Cluj-Napoca

    2 hours

    Ride back to Cluj Napoca, where we wil say goodbye
