An on-bike class with pre-ride instruction for those who have ridden before. First, the pre-ride checklist: Biking Equipment • Please indicate if you need to borrow a bicycle and receive a free helmet. • Bike fitting (host-provided or other) Please consider the following: • Wear visibility clothing • Wear a helmet (or I will provide one) • What to bring: sunscreen, eye protection • Bottled water is provided First, the on-bike preliminary begins on asphalt bike paths away from vehicular traffic: and includes: • Checking ABC Air, Brakes, Chain • Getting on and off the bike • Starting and stopping with control Next, the on-bike road and trail biking include: • Scanning behind you • Hand signals with steering control • Hazard avoidance maneuvers • Countersteering for a quick turn • Quick stop • How to pass a bicycle or pedestrian • Best Practices (synopsis) • Rules of the road or trail (synopsis) Q.
