Calling all creatures of the night: explore the nocturnal side of the Academy at NightLife and see what's revealed. Featuring nearly 60,000 live animals, special programming, and outdoor bars, embrace the unexpected on Thursday nights with your choice of two tour options:

Standard NightLife: Experience the event at your own pace with entry to the museum after hours, featuring a new theme each week with live DJs and access to nocturnal exhibit displays.

NightLife Plus: Enjoy an amplified evening with access to a private exhibit area with two free drinks and light bites surrounded by dazzling geology specimens. Take advantage of an expert-led behind-the-scenes tour, receive expedited entry to some of the Academy's most popular exhibits, treat yourself with discounts on dining and shopping, and sit back and relax in a planetarium show.

Enjoy after-hours entry to the California Academy of Sciences at NightLife, every Thursdays from 6-10 pm. This weekly event for guests aged 21+ features all of the Academy’s exhibits, music, cocktails, and a weekly scientific theme!
Morrison Planetarium

Morrison Planetarium is the largest all-digital dome in the world. With a state-of-the art projector, visitors have an unparalleled view of the universe.

NOTE: Passes to planetarium shows are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

THIS IS YOUR ENTRY TICKET - NO VOUCHER EXCHANGE NEEDED - Proceed directly to attraction entrance and present your ticket(s) for entry to the California Academy of Sciences.
Each traveler must have a unique ticket for entry – please ensure you have all tickets ready for entry upon visiting the California Academy of Sciences.
No refunds or exchanges for lost or stolen vouchers.
Open Year Round. Not valid on Blackout Dates. Last entrance is one-hour before closing.

Planetarium show passes (sold separately, $5 each) are available on a first-come, first served basis and can be reserved at the planetarium pass pick-up desk across from the planetarium entrance.

NOTE: Guests are no longer required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test in order to enter the Academy. However, we still strongly encourage all guests to stay up-to-date with their vaccinations.

Planetarium passes are required for planetarium shows during NightLife. Tickets do sell out quickly, to guarantee a spot reserve your planetarium show passes (additional $5) in advance at tickets.calacademy.org/nlpl/ or by scanning the QR code in the lobby as soon as you arrive. Reservations are first-come, first served.
Last entry into the rainforest dome is 7:30pm.
All food and drink must be enjoyed in the Academy Café or outdoors.
