Our night hike is unique in that we have private access to the river. Not only will you enjoy the experience of staying cool in the water, but hiking up river you are far more likely to see a variety of anphibians, reptiles, bugs and night birds.

Included: Use of flashlights or headlamps and hiking sticks for the duration of the hike.

Itinerary

Experience the rainforest in the dark and try to spot all the reptiles and amphibians that typically can't be seen during the day. With the help of provided flashlights, we begin our hike by walking down our trail into the river and then continue up river about 2 km, before continuing up another trail leading back to the starting point. We walk through the center of the river which is typically ankle to knee deep, so be prepared to get wet, but also stay nice and cool. We recommend good hiking sandals or water shoes, and if you have a headlamp bring it as well.

From La Palma's main intersection go west, through the small village of Riyito. Turn left after Riyito at the sign that says Cascadas Corcovado. Follow the lane way up hill about 2 km and go through gate. Parking is to the right.
