5D4N Sarawak Adventure: Bako NP, Permai, Bengoh & Batang Ai

Day 1 · Bako Wildlife & Permai Rainforest

   Pickup will start from 7:30 AM, followed by a 30–40 minute road transfer to a village nestled by a river near Bako. From there, guest(s) continue their journey upstream to reach the Park Headquarters in an exciting and memorable way. As guest(s) approach the national park, the striking rock formations will quickly catch their attention.

   Bako National Park

   In the National Park, guest(s) will be able to see wildlife thriving in this dynamic landscape, from the ubiquitous long tailed macaque to the elusive silver leaf monkey and the iconic proboscis monkey, with around 275 individuals living in the area. These charming creatures can often be seen swinging through the trees or lounging in the mangroves.

   Other notable residents of the park include the bearded wild boar, the largest resident mammal, and the charming silver leaf monkey, although they may show their shyness by urinating if they feel threatened. Visitors can also see squirrels, flying lemurs, otters, tarsiers, slow loris, and various species of birds, both resident and migratory, adding to the charm of Bako’s rich biodiversity. Our experienced park guide will show you the path to look for the iconic Green-pit viper.

   Stop 3

   After the hike, guests will return from the park area. Our driver will then transfer guests to Permai Rainforest and assist with check-in to your designated accommodation, either a treehouse or a jungle villa. Enjoy the evening at your leisure to relax and unwind. Take a refreshing shower at the jungle pool and enjoy the sunset from the private beach.

Day 2 · Bengoh Valley Adventure

   Bengoh Dam

   Passing by

   At 7:00 AM, breakfast will be served at the Tree Café, usually as a buffet, with à la carte options during low occupancy. After breakfast, you may relax and explore the rainforest. There are several organized trails, and guests can choose a shorter self-guided walk to the waterfall. After the hike, you can freshen up and check out by 10:00 AM. Our vehicle will then drive you to Bengoh, a journey of approximately two hours.

   Travel to the valley and enjoy the scenic journey before having lunch at the hiking entry point. After lunch, it is time to hike to the waterfalls and explore the Jurassic landscapes of Sarawak.

   In the late afternoon, we will travel to the mountain village, followed by a short hike up to the village. Around 4:00 PM, check in to our homestay, freshen up, and rest. At 6:00 PM, go to Tanju for the sunset. Dinner will be served at 7:30 PM. After dinner, relax and unwind.

Day 3 · Batang Ai Headhunters Village

   Bengoh Dam

   Wake up early to enjoy sunrise view from the mountain. After the sunrise, your breakfast will be served. Check out from homestay and go down from the mountain for a short boat ride.

   Along the way, the trip will stop at Lachau Bazaar at 11.00am. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop.

   Passing by

   Then, the journey will continue until we arrive at Batang Ai Lake around 1:30–2:00 PM. From there, we will continue onward, enjoying the scenic surroundings along the way before arriving at the Longhouse.

   Longhouses of Sarawak

   Settle in headhunters' homestay or in the longhouse and freshen up. There will be a short tea break and an explanation about your activities in the village. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. After dinner, spend time with the headhunters. Learn about their culture, customs and stories. They will offer you some local rice wine known as Tuak. At 10.00pm get your bed ready and leisure and prepare for next day's adventure.

Day 4 · Jungle Trekking & Rainforest Adventure

   Stop 1

   6 hours Admission included

   Breakfast will be served at 7:30 AM. After breakfast, you will start a short trek in the lush rainforest where our jungle trail begins. Hike along the river and search for orangutans and monkeys. This is the only place in Sarawak where you can find wild orangutans. Continue along the river trail to a scenic waterfall. Along the way, if conditions allow, there will be a demonstration of Iban-style fishing using a traditional fishing net (Jala), with the catch used for our BBQ. Upon reaching the waterfall, you can enjoy the waterfall and river. Then, we will prepare a picnic lunch with chicken, fish, local vegetables, and more. Swim in the river, relish the peaceful rainforest surroundings, and enjoy the meal at the riverbank.

2. 2

   Longhouses of Sarawak

   16 hours Admission included

   Return back to the village around 3.00pm. After freshen up you can relax on the Ruai (common Verandah). We will demonstrate village activity. Spend time with the Iban kids and create memories. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm. There will be a small night walk with our experienced local guide upon request (this is an optional activity with no extra charge but upon availability and weather condition). Please make sure you have a proper shoes suitable for mud and water trails. If the night walk is not possible, we will arrange a cultural program for you (no extra charge).

Day 5 · Farewell & Back to Kuching

   Breakfast will be served in the lodge at 7:30 AM. Enjoy a final short walk in the village, either self-guided or with a local guide. At 9:00 AM, depart from the lodge and take in the stunning views along the way.

   Serian

   We start our journey from jetty to Kuching around 11.00am. After 2 hours of drive, we will stop at Serian for refueling and lunch in a local restaurant.
