Itinerary

Day 1 · Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut – A Scenic Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Hike

Kilimanjaro National Park

Your private Kilimanjaro guide and mountain support crew will meet you at your hotel for a short briefing before driving to Marangu Gate (1,860 m / 6,046 ft), the eastern entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park and starting point of the famous Marangu Route. After park registration, permits, and safety procedures, begin your Kilimanjaro hike from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut.

The trail passes through the lush Kilimanjaro rainforest, where rain showers are possible. Bring a waterproof jacket, spare clothes, and comfortable hiking shoes. Your experienced guide will set a steady pace and support you throughout the trek.

After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, arrive at Mandara Hut (2,700 m / 8,858 ft). Relax and enjoy the mountain surroundings while your support crew prepares dinner and takes care of the camp arrangements. This scenic section of the Kilimanjaro Marangu Route offers rainforest views, fresh mountain air, and an unforgettable Mount Kilimanjaro hiking experience.

Day 2 · Hiking to Maundi Crater & Descent to Marangu Gate – Kilimanjaro Marangu Route

After breakfast at the Hut, your experienced Kilimanjaro guide will lead you on a scenic hike toward Maundi Crater, a beautiful viewpoint along the Marangu Route. The walk offers stunning views of the surrounding mountain landscape and is a rewarding addition to your 2-day Kilimanjaro hiking tour. Your guide will assess your pace, fitness, and overall condition and recommend the best option for the hike, ensuring you have a safe and enjoyable experience.

After exploring Maundi Crater, you will return to Mandara Hut, where your cook will prepare a delicious lunch. Once you have rested and enjoyed your meal, you will begin the descent through the lush Kilimanjaro rainforest toward Marangu Gate. The descent provides another opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Marangu Route.

At Marangu Gate, your driver will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you comfortably back to your hotel. Your private Kilimanjaro hiking adventure ends with wonderful memories of Mount Kilimanjaro.
