The ship was transformed into a museum and opened to the public on June 7, 2004.

Visitors to the museum can explore over 60 locations throughout the ship, including the engine room, galley, sleeping quarters, bridge, and flight control areas. The museum features more than 30 restored aircraft spanning 80 years of naval aviation history, interactive exhibits, and flight simulators.
