Private WW2 History Tour: Berchtesgaden, Obersalzberg & Salt Mine

About this activity

Explore the beautiful Obersalzberg and Berchtesgaden in Southern Germany, near the Austrian border.

The full day trip starts in the morning, with pick up at your Munich, Berchtesgaden or Salzburg accommodation. Cool drinks will be waiting for you in a comfortable vehicle.

As soon as we have arrived at the beautiful Berchtesgaden, we will first enjoy a visit of the "World War II Memorial and Educational Center" for an audio guided tour through the exhibition. I'll also show you the ruins of Hitler's home - the so called "Berghof"

At lake Koenigssee we will also enjoy our lunch break with a Bavarian main course and a drink of your choice.

Well strengthened, we will make our way to the Salt Mine "Weißgoldmine" in Berchtesgaden, where you can take a boat ride on an underground lake and slide down into the depths. You will also learn more about the centuries-old mining procedures in the oldest active mine in Germany.

Itinerary

  1. Munich

    2 hours

The full day trip starts in the morning, with pick up at your Munich accommodation. Step into a comfortable, air-conditioned private vehicle embarking on tour. Cool drinks and snacks will be waiting for you in a comfortable vehicle.

Soon, we will reach Mount Irschenberg, the most stunning viewpoint you can experience from a German highway. This motorway route was constructed in the mid-1930s as a „panoramic motorway.“ These now unconventional paths were part of National Socialist propaganda: the beauty of the landscape was exploited by intentionally presenting it as a symbol of the „German Homeland.“

A short time later, after another breathtaking view, we arrive at the largest lake in Bavaria, Lake Chiemsee.

  2. Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg

    one hour Admission included

First, we will stop at the "World War II Memorial and Educational Center" for an audio guided tour through the exhibition.

The Dokumentation Obersalzberg is a museum in the Obersalzberg resort near Berchtesgaden, providing information on the use of the mountainside retreat by Nazi leaders, especially Adolf Hitler who regularly spent time in this area beginning in 1928. The museum was opened in 1999, and by 2007 had been visited by more than one million people.

  3. Stop 3

    30 min

After our visit at the Dokumentationszentrum, we will do a short walk/hike of about 15-minutes per way to the ruins of Hitler's home - the so called "Berghof"

  4. Konigssee

    1 h 30 min

As soon as we have arrived at lake Koenigssee, you will explore the palace with your private guide. Following up we will have plenty of great photo opportunities, be it the lake itself, or the spectacular surrounding mountain area. When everyone will be ready, all participants will get a delicious Bavarian lunch.

  5. Berchtesgaden Salt Mines

    2 hours Admission included

We'll visit and enter the famous Salt Mines. Here you will have time to explore the Mine from the inside. Highlight, the slide or the journey on the Mirror Lake (Spiegelsee) melt with gripping information over the indispensible vital element of salt.

  6. Munich

    2 hours

After a day filled with unforgettable memories in Berchtesgaden, relax as I drive you comfortably back to your hotel in Munich. Sit back, enjoy the scenic ride, and let the day’s impressions sink in. With my years of experience creating seamless private tours, you can travel with complete comfort and peace of mind — everything is taken care of.
