Due to a volcanic eruption near Grindavík on April 1, 2025, access to the Blue Lagoon, Grindavík, and Svartsengi is currently restricted by Icelandic authorities for safety. Roads are closed until further notice. Keflavík Airport is unaffected.

⚠️ Please note that Iceland has introduced a kilometre-based road fee for vehicles. Rates currently start at 6.95 ISK per km for vehicles under 3.5 tons (rates vary by vehicle type).

Kilometre Fee: Iceland introduced a distance-based road-use fee for vehicles on January 1, 2026. For rental cars, the fee may appear in your rental terms or final invoice. Contact your rental company with any questions.
Access to Grindavík, Svartsengi, and nearby areas may be restricted due to volcanic activity. Do not enter closed areas and follow instructions from Icelandic authorities. Keflavík Airport is unaffected.
