In the beginning of the 19th century, the fast growing city of Odessa needed cheap building material, and as a result long labyrinths of limestone quarries appeared under the city. In different times, Odessa catacombs served as a refugee place for robbers and criminals. Moreover, the catacombs played a key role in the history of the World War II, when the partisans hide there. Then you will come back to the city center and have a free time.
