Itinerary
This food tour of Nagoya gives you unique insight into the local food culture of Nagoya, known for its strong flavor profiles. Meet your local guide in the heart of the city, where you will start exploring the food scene on foot. There will be quite a bit of walking involved, but don’t worry, breaks at restaurants are provided throughout the tour so you can rest and recharge. You will try Miso Nikomi Udon, a warming bowl of Udon noodles served in rich red miso broth, hear the story behind the local rice balls stuffed with shrimp Tempura, and explore the underground level of Japan’s oldest department store. Your tour guide will tell fascinating stories of Japanese demons and what they have to do with a local sweet potato treat. Finally, learn how to eat Hitsumabushi, the local dish made from freshwater eel that is eaten in four different ways. For dinnertime tours, you will join in on the drinking culture of Japan in a popular Nagoya Izakaya, washing down your peppery chicken wings with a cold Japanese beer or other beverage. * Please note that food is pre-selected and may be changed based on availability.
