Discover the volcano route that will take you to the best attractions of the island of São Miguel! During 2 days you will explore the Furnas volcano, a place of constant volcanic activity and thermal pools, discover the unmistakable beauty of the Seven Cities volcano, marvel at the nature of the Fire volcano, learn how pineapple is produced from the Azores, visit one of the most famous water cascades and admire the tea plantations among many other attractions.

Choose between two tour options:

•Tour with lunch included, "cooked from the furnas" served on one day and a "regional food buffet" on the other, or;

•Tour without lunch where you will have extra free time in the lunch break, the opportunity to buy food or simply bring snacks with you.

Itinerary

Day 1 · Visit the main attractions of Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo and visit one of the pineapple plantations.

Vista do Rei Miradouro

Considered one of the seven wonders in Portugal, the sumptuous landscape from this belvedere, leaves no one indifferent. This is the most famous viewpoint in the Azores where you can see the blue and green lagoons as well as the picturesque parish inside the volcano.
Stop 4

Belvedere at altitude in the western part of the crater, where you can see the islanders of the Mosteiros on the west coast of São Miguel with its black rocks cutting the blue of the sea.
Caldeira das Sete Cidades

Inside the Sete Cidades volcano, we stopped in the center of the parish for a well-deserved break.

During this break, you can decide to include a delicious buffet made up of several typical dishes from the region in your tour (not included, talk to your guide), explore this picturesque place, stroll along the edge of the lagoon or even go canoeing.

In the center of the parish, the church of São Nicolau, normally decorated with natural flowers, invites you to visit.
Praia do Areal de Santa Barbara

Explore the city center of Ribeira Grande with its magnificent Paradise garden crossed by the river that gives its name to the city and visit the Mother Church on the top of its hill.
Lagoa do Fogo

Surprise yourself with the unique beauty of the lagoon at higher altitude of São Miguel. Considered by many to be the most beautiful, Lagoa do Fogo and its turquoise waters are surrounded by huge cliffs, used by several species of seabirds for nesting.

Plantacoes de Cha Gorreana

Enjoy a tea tasting by visiting one of the only two industrial tea factories in Europe. Admire all the beauty of the tea plantation, traveling through valleys and mountains where goats clean the bushes. This is not just any plantation, it is the only and last one in the world where no pesticides or fertilizers are used, being 100% natural.
Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeiroes

Northeast, where nature lives! The most visited place in the Northeast, an old area of water mills, converted into a Natural Park of great beauty with its enormous waterfalls. Sometimes, groups of adventurers practicing canyoning can be found, this being a well-known place for their practice.
Stop 4

Explore the place locally called "Mouth of the Volcano" where you will find countless sources of mineral waters, and you can try some of them. Stroll among the boiling water boilers and taste traditional liqueurs in a typical local craft store.
Furnas

Still in the Villa das Furnas, we will take a lunch break.

For the lovers of gastronomy who opted for the tour with lunch, enjoy the most authentic dish of the Azores: the Cozido das Furnas, slowly cooked in the volcanic soil and prepared to awaken all senses. Drinks, dessert and coffee are included.

Travellers without lunch, can find various options to buy food and freely explore the beauty of the place.
Parque Terra Nostra

The optional visit to Terra Nostra Park offers a quiet and engaging experience where nature and wellness meet. Walk through centuries-old botanical gardens, surrounded by exotic species from around the world, and enjoy a relaxing bath in the iconic hot-water, mineral-rich spa pool.

This is an optional activity and the entry is not included and can be purchased on site (17€ per person).
Lagoa das Furnas

Pass the lagoon of the Furnas where the magnificent Chapel of Our Lady of Victories, in neo-Gothic style and built on its shore, tells a beautiful love story.
Vila Franca do Campo

Start your return to your hotel by passing Villa Franca do Campo, the old capital of the island, enjoying its beautiful island, known locally as the Ilhéu de Villa Franca do Campo or “Anel da Princesa”. The scenic road along the south coast is the perfect way to finish your island discovery.
