The Hoover Dam was constructed during the Great Depression from 1931 to 1936. Upon its completion, it was the world’s largest hydroelectric power station and concrete structure at the time! The purpose of the Hoover Dam is to provide hydroelectric power, water storage, irrigation, and flood control from the Colorado River.
