Sydney & Melbourne Self-Guided GPS Audio Tours (Walk/Drive)

About this activity
One booking gives you 3 days of access to all 8 audio guides: Sydney, the Sydney Light Rail, the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley wine country, Melbourne, Melbourne's City Circle Tram 35, the Great Ocean Road and the Sydney Marathon course.
Install the free Self Guide App (Android and iPhone), open the link we email you and press Start. The guide then talks by itself: you reach a place and its story begins, and it tells you where to look, on your right or on your left. Between places a podcast about Australia keeps you company.
The app keeps talking with the screen off and over Google Maps. On Android it puts the guide on your car screen through Android Auto, and the sound goes to the car speakers over Bluetooth.
No fixed route: walk, drive, cycle or ride the tram. English throughout, and Russian for six of the guides. Written by a Sydney guide since 2006. Mobile data and GPS are required.

Using your ticket
INSTANT DIGITAL DELIVERY — HOW TO USE YOUR TICKET:
1. After purchase, your unique access link is delivered to the email address used at booking — usually within 1-2 minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.
2. Open the link on your smartphone (iPhone or Android), or directly in your car's built-in browser (Tesla, BMW iDrive, Mercedes MBUX, Polestar, Ford Sync 4).
3. Allow GPS location access when prompted — this triggers automatic narration as you approach each landmark.
4. Press "Start Tour", select your interests, and begin driving, walking, cycling, or riding a hop-on bus anywhere in Sydney.
BEFORE YOU START — IMPORTANT:
- iPhone: Settings → Display → Auto-Lock → "Never"
- Android: Settings → Display → Screen timeout → longest option
- Plug into a car charger (GPS + audio drains battery fast)
- Keep the browser tab in foreground — switching apps pauses the tour
- Continuous mobile data required (Australian SIM recommended)
If your access link doesn't arrive within 5 minutes, email [email protected] with your Viator booking reference — we respond within 1 hour.
