El Yunque National Forest and Luquillo Beach Tour

About this activity

Harmonize your senses with nature and join us in a half-day adventure at the Luquillo Rainforest foothills.

Feel the anticipation of exploring a new place, of swimming in a river of pure water born at the peak of the same mountain you are. Our guide will escort you on a memorable journey where you will delight in your surroundings, see beautiful landmarks, take refreshing dips in the streams, and get to enjoy this Nature Walk.

Our tour guide will meet you at your hotel or location, at the previously accorded pickup time (contact us for confirmation). From there, we will head east through the coastal road boarding the beautiful beaches in the town of Loíza. Exposition regarding our Puerto Rican heritage, and live commentary and interpretation of your surroundings can be given in both English and Spanish throughout the journey. After this time, we head back to your lodgings.

Itinerary

  1. Torre Yokahu

    30 min Admission included

Dr. Frank H. Wadsworth, a former forest supervisor and director of the IITF, constructed this 69-foot tower in the early 1960s. On a clear day, the Virgin Islands may be seen from Yokah Tower, along with the coastline and four different types of forest: Colorado (smooth to the south), Tabonuco (irregular surrounding with white-leaved Yagrumos), Palm (on the steep slopes), and Cloud Forest (on the peaks). To the east, in the upper Mameyes Valley, is the deep ancient forest of the Bao de Oro Research Natural Area.

  2. Catarata La Coca

    20 min

La Coca Falls is a magnificent waterfall, rising 1,476 feet (450 meters) above sea level! La Coca Cascades' water falls 85 feet (26 meters) to the bottom of the falls, where it meets a massive rock formation. The location is ideal for taking pictures.

  3. El Yunque National Forest

    30 min

Embark on an unforgettable adventure at the Puente Roto, or "Broken Bridge," recreation site – a hidden gem nestled along the Rio Mameyes' recreation segment. Recognized by Congress as a Wild and Scenic River for its breathtaking natural beauty, this undiscovered haven promises an immersive experience in an undeveloped oasis.

Features: Water Wonderland: Dive into the spacious water play area created by the river's width, offering the perfect setting for swimming, wading, and riverside picnics.

️ Location: Discover this pristine retreat at Road 988 km 2.7, where tranquility meets nature's splendor.

Safety First: ⚠️ Weather Watch: Stay informed about changing weather conditions and potential flash floods to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Leave No Trace: Embrace environmental responsibility by packing out your trash, preserving the beauty of the river. Let's protect this natural haven together!
