It is a fantastic scenic spot in Biei, and is known for its vivid blue water surface.This pond was accidentally created by the volcanic mudflow control work at Tokachidake, and the standing withers of larch and birch standing in the water create a mysterious landscape.The dark blue color varies depending on the weather, season and time of day.

Shirahige Falls

This waterfall is about 30m high in Shirokane Onsen in Biei Town.The name comes from the fact that groundwater flows down through cracks in the rock surface in a series of thin streams that look like white beards.The waterfall flows into the beautiful cobalt-blue Biei River, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the four seasons.
