During the 11th century, an essential figure in the history of France and England chose Caen as its capital. He is the founder of the abbey we are going to visit. We will also take a time to mention the "sister" building, the Abbey of the Ladies.

Returning to the old town centre, we will make a stop in front of the Hotel d'Escoville, emblematic monument of the Renaissance, and which adjoins the current Tourist Office (possible stop for souvenir purchases)
