Join in on the annual Wreckers Race and take part in a fast pace race toward Sand Key Lighthouse aboard Schooner America 2.0! Back in the day, pirate ships from afar often ran aground on Sand Key Reef, nine miles off the southern coast of Key West. When all the sailors in Key West heard there was booty to be had, they'd get in their boats and race each other out to the reef. The first one there could claim the ship's cargo. Today, we celebrate it with the firing of the canon to start the race, and all of the schooners of Key West are on their way in a one-way race to Sand Key Lighthouse! The boat that gets there first, "wins"!

    Guests aboard this sail will race toward Sand Key Lighthouse. A fast-paced and exciting race nine miles offshore into open water culminating in the rounding of the famed lighthouse. Enjoy iconic 360* views of Mallory Square, Fort Zachary Taylor, and Sunset Pier. Keep an eye out for ocean wildlife such as dolphins, sea turtles, and waterbirds.

Plan to check-in 30-45 minutes prior to departure time at our ticket booth located at 202 William Street (at the end of William Street). During the check-in process, you will receive boarding passes. These passes are required for admittance on to the vessel. Boarding will begin 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. For your security, at check-in you are required to present a valid photo identification that matches the name on the reservation. Please note that parking availability around the Historic Key West Bight is VERY limited, and therefore finding a parking spot may take longer than expected. The boat will leave promptly at the scheduled departure time. Please plan accordingly! For questions about weather, cancelations, refunds and rescheduling please call 305.293.7245.
