This square is named for the Battle of Monterey. General Casimir Pulaski stands in the center of the square. The synagogue, Mickve Israel, is on this square built in Gothic Revival style and the Mercer Williams house enriches the square with its historic style. Mercer Williams's house is the center point of the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil," and also a big part of several of the movies filmed in Savannah.
