    Falkland is a beautiful historic village at the foot of the Lomond Hills, famous for its connection with Scottish royalty. It became a Royal Burgh in 1458, and Falkland Palace was a favourite residence of the Stuart kings and Mary, Queen of Scots. Her father, King James V, died here in 1542.

    Today, Falkland is known for its historic streets, charming architecture and royal heritage. It also became famous internationally as a filming location for the TV series Outlander, where Falkland represents the fictional village of Inverness in the 1940s scenes.
