Despre activitate
Explore Portugal's intriguing medieval past on this private day trip to Tomar, the old Knights Templar headquarters. Your guide will take you to the most amazing monument in Portugal, the Convent of Christ, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was first a Templar stronghold and then a royal monastery. Discover its great Manueline architecture, cloisters, and the enigmatic round chapel with elaborate carvings and religious symbolism known as Charola.
Then, explore the little streets of Tomar, a town rich in Templar past. See the Igreja de São João Baptista, a Gothic church mirroring the medieval legacy of Tomar, at the Praça da República. Spend some free time browsing the stores and cafes or sampling the regional cuisine, which includes the classic pastry, queijadas de Tomar.
Your guide will untangle the impact of the Knights Templar on Portuguese history and architecture, bringing their legends to life.
