You can reach the crater with a 20/25 minute climbing walk. The crater entrance includes an internal volcano guide. (2h) Pompeii is a vast archaeological site. Once a thriving and sophisticated Roman city, Pompeii was buried under meters of ash and pumice from the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The site is constantly evolving thanks to the continuous excavations that offer new discoveries every year, a professional guide is highly recommended to be able to visit it in detail in relaxation in its most important structures.
